About This Course

This lecture explores the Siddhar tradition’s metaphysics—the unity of body and life—and the ninety-six internal tattvas (96 constituents), the principle of impermanence, and the Siddhar goal for life known as “Veedu Peru” (liberation). Drawing on Thirumoolar’s Verse 724 and the Tirukkural, it connects the cultivation of the body (Kaya Siddhi) with reflections on life’s ultimate purpose. Combining pedagogical, literary, and medical perspectives, it is designed to welcome both learners unfamiliar with Tamil and members of the Tamil diaspora.

What You'll Learn

  • Explain the Siddhar metaphysical principle of the unity of body and life.
  • Describe the main categories of the ninety-six (96) tattvas and their physiological/medical applications.
  • Identify the philosophy of impermanence and the Siddhar approach to attaining Veedu Peru (liberation) through it.
